| Labor Day in the East Coast
i just had one of the best weekends in awhile. I got to visit karen in DC! i have already been to DC twice before but i gota say this was the most memorable. We took it easy, napped when we got to karen's, watch no reservations, woke up for a stroll. we didn't visit any historical 'sites' since we been to most of them, just really enjoyed walking around the city. I got to walk down Georgetown and around GTU. I love the feel of campus and the layback feel. obviously wasn't finals week yet. Also got the most mosquito bites in one day. I like karen's home, very cute and homey, I can lounge around all day.
after karen's done with her long work day she took us out to eat for 3 hours...THREE HOURS. we trekked through three restaurants +1 dessert. falafel, tapas, ben's chili bowl, gelato! yummmm.
i remember reading karen's facebook post that she ran to the zoo and visited panda, so i want to keep her morning ritual and joined her on the run. Georgetown is a great runner city, with small trails right smack in the city and the trails are long. the round trip was 7miles and i got to see pands and leopards. that's a good morning jog. more eating and walking about. to mussels and fries, captain white's seafood, kayak the potomac river, empanadas, oreo milkshake and bon chon chicken on our drive to Chantille. I don't feel a drop of guilt for eating so much. 7 miles jog, 6 miles walk, 2 miles kayak.
now i want to visit her more often...hahahaha...it's been fun.
Now the labor day weekend we also had another agenda, to attend our first Indian wedding. Ankit had me help another girl Julian with her sari. i hope her sari stayed on the rest of the night, cuz i realized most of them use safety pins to keep it in place. Also something i noticed, all the girls group together and all the men group together to talk. even if they're couples / husband + wife they separate and join other similar genders to chit chat... oh the indian food! the cocktail hour food was like real dinner food. of course once they let everyone into the dinning room they started DANCING first instead of eating. if i had known, i would have eaten a LOT more during cocktail hour! it's not just a few people but almost the whole room went up to dance all 23 tables = 230ish people. during the five hours the dance floor was never empty and not a single slow song. if you sat at the table, you can feel the floor shake and the water in the glass twirl. they really know how to celebrate.
next, attend a indian wedding in india :) |
